Founded by a Ute Mountain Ute tribal member for the Native American community on the Western Slope, the Western Slope Native American Resource Center (WSNARC) is a family resource center that is rooted in sustaining the Ute tradition and building cultural wealth. WSNARC was developed out of a need to have a community-driven solution to Native Americans on the Western Slope. With a purpose of serving those living on both the Ute Mountain Ute and Southern Ute reservations and tribal members living on the Western Slope, WSNARC aims to provide the critically unmet needs of culturally-rich resources for American Indians (AI) and Alaska Native (AI/AN) families.
The collaboration between WSNARC and Lifespan Psychiatry of Colorado seeks to address the need for behavioral health services while embracing the rich cultural heritage of the Ute Mountain Ute clients in the Towaoc, CO area.
We will offer a behavioral health approach that is respectful, inclusive, and tailored to the Ute culture by providing a whole-person experience to heal the emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual needs of the Ute Mountain Ute clients. With deep respect for diverse cultural backgrounds, our team of providers and staff will provide a person-centered approach which includes acknowledging the importance of weaving culturally appropriate care with evidence-based practices in behavioral health. The Ute Mountain Ute Nation's wellness vision is important to us and, by working together, we hope to support and honor their mental health and healing journey with the expertise of cultural elements, traditions, and community resources supported by the WSNARC.
Healing the individual, and supporting the families are crucial components
to gaining balance and restoring community connections among Ute Mountain Ute members.
