SPRAVATO® (esketamine) CIII nasal spray is a nonselective, noncompetitive antagonist of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor – an ionotropic glutamate receptor. It is a first-of-its kind medicine approved by the FDA in two major depressive disorder (MDD) subpopulations with high unmet need.
SPRAVATO® is approved in the United States to treat adults with treatment resistant depression (TRD) and to treat depressive symptoms in adults with MDD with acute suicidal ideation or behavior.

Our office is the only REMS-certified Spravato outpatient treatment center serving Colorado's Western Slope. Spravato (esketamine) is a FDA-approved, insurance covered treatment medication indicated for treatment resistant depression or depression with suicidal ideation. This medication is administered in-office under the supervision.
Answers to commonly asked questions about the Spravato process:
Patients do not need a referral from outside providers to begin this process but will need to meet with one of our providers and undergo evaluation to determine course of treatment
Individuals not appropriate for Spravato include but are not limited to those with: pregnancy/breastfeeding, uncontrolled high blood pressure, AV malformation, aneurysms, active substance use, or active psychosis
Once the patient is cleared for treatment by providers and express their interest, our office staff collaborates with insurance carriers and the Janssen CarePath Patient Support Program to obtain coverage for this medication
All Spravato treatments are done in-office under supervision
Office staff will pick up the Spravato prescription from Genoa Pharmacy prior to each appointment
Patients must not drive home after treatment. For CO Medicaid patients, Medicaid taxi rides are available to and from patient appointments--call Sunshine taxi at 970-777-7777 to set up your account prior to your first appointment
Patients should remain on their medication regime as directed by their provider
It is recommended patients dress in comfortable clothing, bring a desired activity such as headphones and devices, and not eat two hours prior to treatment start or drink 30 minutes prior to treatment start
WiFi, beverages, candies, blankets, restrooms are all available during treatments
Patients are given options of treatment settings within our office space to choose to from with each session (alone, viewing outdoors, etc.)
